Happy Switzerland Day: Milan to Interlaken

Interlaken, Switzerland ยท August 1, 2026 ยท 2 min read

Happy Switzerland Day! Today is Switzerland Day, when the 3 people in 1921 swore to start the country of Switzerland. Yesterday I landed in Milan, Italy, and met Rachel there for a month-long Euro summer adventure. We ate pasta and pizza and really yummy gelato.

Today we went to Milano Centrale and took the train to Interlaken. Well, it wasnโ€™t that straightforward. The first train we went on rode one stop and then said the train was out of service. We had to get off the train in a random Swiss town on the Italian border for three hours. It turned out to be nice because the village was super cute, and we ate yummy pasta and gelato.

Three hours later, we boarded our second train, and it did the same thing. We rode one stop, and it said the train was out of service. Then, luckily, a third train came, and we rode it for a little before we had to transfer to our fourth train.

Finally, we arrived in Interlaken and walked 30 minutes to our hostel/hotel. It was the cheapest thing in the whole city for a whopping 200 euros a night. I told Rachel I am really excited to be here. Everyone I have talked to is hyping it up. We are in store for some nice hikes and exploring beautiful Switzerland.
